Hedonisia Hawaii is a small quiet sustainable community located in the volcanic rain forests of East Hawaii.
We offer "green lodgings" for "ecotourists", backpackers and travelers who wish to experience a different Hawaii than the concrete developed tourism of Waikiki or Kona.

We are one of the most eco-friendly vacation rental retreats in Big Island, Hawaii. We reduce, reuse and recycle. As a result, we can offer very affordable jungle lodgings in the Hawaiian Rainforest!
Because of our sustainable policies we are deliberately different from "normal" tourist hotels. We hope you enjoy what we are trying to do. We are always open to hearing new ideas!
Having only ten bed-spaces on 3.72 acres of land prevents us from becoming over-crowded. Our maximum population is 7 - 16 people which allows Guests and Volunteers quiet, privacy and space to enjoy our little piece of Hawaiian paradise.
We also offer a Solar Heated Outdoor Shower, Toilet-with-a-Garden-view, Geothermal electricity, Free Landline Telephone, and DSL wireless internet access! It's jungle style but hardly roughing it! There is also a nature-trail you can explore that leads around to our own volcanic crater.

Volunteer your time to enjoy a discounted eco-vacation in Hawaii. Our Program is for those who wish to enjoy a longer stay in Hawaii at a lower cost while doing volunteer work in support of a sustainable community.

- Moving to Hawaii? We offer a number of lodging, work and education options for those who are thinking of leaving the rat race and moving to a Hawai'ian island Paradise!
- Hedonisia Community Manager Apprenticeship: We offer a residential hands-on opportunity for qualified applicants to be an apprentice manager for the Hedonisia Hawaii Community. An ideal opportunity for those who dream of one day starting their own community or for artists, writers, computer workers etc who would like work that requires them to stay at "home!"
- Wordpress/App Designer Internship: We offer a special Intern program at Hedonisia Hawaii for Wordpresswebsite designers or Apple/Android App Developers. Be a techie in the rainforest!
- Social Change Research Internships: Of course, we understand that many people want to just visit Hawaii to relax in the sunshine and get sunburn! But for those who wish to enjoy using their brains in paradise we offer a number of Research Internships for our social enterprise web projects.
- Hedonisia Handbook: For those who wish to learn about how to create a sustainable community but can't afford the Internship course nor wish to apply for our Manager Apprenticeship we offer an eBook on sustainable community management and social enterprise.
- Hedonisia Tropical Educational Farm Plant Inventory: A portion of the cost of your stay is considered an "agricultural farm fee" which allows you to harvest any fruits and vegetables growing on our property. This is how we "sell" Hedonisia garden produce without the expense of marketing, storage and transportation. It is the most eco-friendly way to bring food from our gardens to a person's mouth!
- Romantic Studio Condo Rental in Hilo: To balance out our "jungle" location we now offer a small romantic apartment as a rental for couples who are staying in quaint tropical Hilo, the "wettest" town in America with a growing sense of "green tourism". So you can conveniently book a "stay in the jungle" and then stay in the city all in one go!
Our location is very convenient for both eco-tourists and volunteers alike. We are close to many major attractions of Puna and East Hawaii such as Ahalanui Warm Ponds, Kehena Black Sand beach, Volcano's National Park, and many others. The quaint and colorful "hippie" village of Pahoa is only 4 miles away and so is the ocean!
