FAIR-TRADE VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

Mojo and Michaella washing the Love Bus!Our Fair-Trade Volunteer Program is designed to be fair - to both Volunteers and the Managers at Hedonisia. Volunteers get recognized and rewarded for their work efforts, and management has clear and transparent rules for Volunteers and the work they do in our little community.

Having mutual respect and appreciation. We often get volunteers coming from other communities in the area where they did not feel respected or appreciated for their contribution. Based on their reports we try to continually adjust our program so that every Volunteer at Hedonisia has had a great time, met new friends, and leaves with a feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment.

There are 2 Volunteer Options:

  • A) 1 Night Guest for 6 Nights Volunteer: Pay for the first 3 nights and then Volunteer up to 3 weeks in exchange for accommodation. To stay longer you pay for 1 night per additional week of stay as a Volunteer. For example, if you wish to stay for six weeks as a Volunteer then you pay for 6 days as a Guest. Our Fair-Trade Volunteer Program is offered on a week-to-week basis up to 3 months. However, special hardworking Volunteers who end up becoming Friends of Hedonisia can stay longer
  • B) 50/50 Guest/Volunteer: Pay 1/2 price and do 1/2 Volunteer time up to 3 months (working 3 hours per day for 3 days each week with Sundays off). Option B is usually what people prefer if they want to get a part-time job outside of Hedonisia or to have more time to see many of the beautiful natural wonders of Hawaii!

This applies to all aspects of living and working on the land. Hedonisia Hawaii is a beautiful wild piece of land, but it can also be dangerous. You are responsible for your personal health and safety so always be aware of your capabilities. If you feel uncomfortable contributing to any project at Hedonisia Hawaii or if you feel a job is too dangerous for you, please let us know. We can usually find another task that is less daunting!!

We strongly recommend that all Volunteers have Health or Travel Insurance that will allow us to call them an ambulance in the event of an Medical Emergency.
